Une partie de l'intérieur du poste de pilotage est de la même couleur que la carrosserie. La délimitation entre le rouge et le reste du chassis est bien repérée par la gravure, il suffit de suivre les lignes avec de la bande cache et de vaporiser le rouge (photo 6)
A part of the chassis has the same color than the body. Due to the engraving, the boundary between the red and the rest of the chassis is easily found and masked with masking tape. Then you just have to spray the color onto the chassis (photo 6).
Une fois le rouge bien sec (une semaine de séchage), toute la partie derrière le poste de conduite est vaporisée ensuite en noir mat Humbrol pour donner une sous couche sombre à la mécanique. Le rouge est ensuite masqué puis le reste du chassis (sans oublier le dessous) est vaporisé avec de l'argent H191. La base du chassis est maintenant peinte (photo 7), il reste toutes les finitions à faire. A noter que j'ai régulièrement assemblé le chassis et la carrosserie pour vérifier ce que donnaient les élements peints ensemble, et modifier certains détails si besoin.
Once the red fully dry (after one week), all the stuff behind the cockpit is sprayed in Humbrol matt black to give a first dark note to all the engine bay. Then the red is masked and a Humbrol H191 silver is sprayed on the cockpit and the underside of the chassis. The main painting of the body is finished (photo 7). Next step will be all the details, a quite long but interesting job. Note that during all the painting operations, I've regulary assembled the body and chassis together to see if the coulours were matching together, and modify some details if needed.
Il s'agit maintenent de donner vie au V8 Cosworth et à sa boite de vitesse Hewland. La Rondeau de 1981 était
de conception assez classique et il n'y avait pas beaucoup de matériaux exotiques. Il faut donc jouer avec les couleurs Alu, Acier et Argent
en variant les teintes et les fournisseurs. Voici la liste des teintes utilisées :
H191 argent, H58 Gun Metal, H56 Metallic grey pour l'Humbrol.
Chrome silver, Noir Metal, Acier pour Model Master; XF-56 Metallic grey, X32 Titanium silver, XF16 Flat aluminium, X11 Chrome silver, X24 Clear yellow,
X26 Clear Orange, X27 Clear Red et X23 Clear Blue pour les couleurs Tamiya.
La boite est en H58 brossée au H191.
Les culasses du V8 sont en Noir Metal (toujours brossé en alu) et le reste du bloc est en variations aluminium. Les échappements sont peints en Gun Metal
puis la chauffe des tubes est représenté avec des pointes de couleurs translucides Tamiya. Chaque pièce est brossée à sec et reçoit en suite
un jus sombre pour donner du relief. Il est très difficile de trouver des photos couleurs des moteurs installés dans les M379, il se peut donc qu'il y ait des
erreurs dans mes interprétations de couleurs, mais l'ensemble parrait homogène et cohérent.
It is now time to give life to the Cosworth V8 engine and its Hewland gearbox. The 1981 Rondeau was classical in its conception and did not use "exotic" materials,
therefore we have to play with Silver, Steel and Aluminium colours, mixing brands and types. Here is the list of colors used here :
H191 Silver, H58 Gun Metal, H56 Metallic grey for Humbrol. Chrome silver, Metal black, Steel for Model Master; XF-56 Metallic grey, X32 Titanium silver, XF16 Flat aluminium,
X11 Chrome silver, X24 Clear yellow, X26 Clear Orange, X27 Clear Red and X23 Clear Blue for Tamiya's paints.
The gearbox is in H58 drybrushed with H191. The cylinder heads are in Metal black (still Alumunium drybrushed) and the other parts of the engine are in aluminium colors.
Exhausts are in Gun Metal, the hot points of the steel are represented by lights layers of clear colors Tamiya. Every part is drybrushed and then gets a dark tint to reveal the
effect of depth. As is it very difficult to found color pictures of M379 engine bays, I may have made some mistakes in the colors I've choosen but the whole bay looks homogenous
and logical.
