Porsche à l'aise au Mans, ce n'est pas une nouveauté. Déjà durant les qualifications, la 963 n°6 faillit créer la sensation mais fut disqualifiée pour poids non conforme et dut partir en fond de grille Hypercar. Ne s'arrêtant pas pour si peu, Estre, Vanthoor et Campbell vont patiemment remonter et se retrouver déjà troisièmes à 18h. Auteurs d'une course parfaite, avec une stratégie exemplaire et des arrêts aux stands éclairs, n'ayant aucune erreur ni incident à déplorer, l'équipage de la n°6 sera la principale opposition aux Ferrari, prenant même les commandes de la course par moments.
Hélàs, contre la vitesse d'une équipe Ferrari (trop épargnée par la BoP?) il n'y avait rien à faire et petit à petit la meilleure Porsche glissait vers la quatrième place quand, par une successions d'erreurs et de petits pépins en début d'après midi le dimanche, les F499P lui ouvraient la porte du podium. Il n'en fallait pas d'avantage pour que l'équipe Penske en profite et s'adjuge la seconde place. Elle était malgré tout incapable de combler son retard sur le N°83 qui souffrait pourtant de soucis de rétrogradage.

Porsche at ease in Le Mans, that's not new. In fact during tyhe qualifications, the n°6 was very close to make a splash but was disqualified for weight infrigement and had to start at the bottom of the Hypercar grid. Not an issue for Estre, Vanthoor and Campbell who will make a steadily come back and seen third at 6 p.m. With a perfect race, an exemplary strategy, very fast pit stops without any mistake, the Porsche n°6 will be the main competitor to the Ferrari, taking the opportunity to lead the race each time it was possible.
Anyway, against the speed of the Italian team (may be spared by the BoP) there was nothing to do and step by step the best Porsche slided to the fourth position. However early in sunday afternoon, the F499P opened the path to the podium for the Porsche by making mistakes and having minor issue, for sure the Penske team took this opportunity to secure the second place. By the way, despite down shifting issue one the leading n°83 Ferrari, it was completely impossible to reduce the gap.
