Audi victorieux, classique pourrait on dire... voire !
En effet la R10 n'est pas simplement une évolution de la R8 détentrice des records des 7 dernières années.
Cette voiture de course est motorisé par un V12 Turbodiesel. Cette technologie a déjà couru au
Mans par le passé mais n'a jamais convaincu. La dernière tentative, une Lola Caterpillar en 2004, a vite montré
les difficultés d'une telle motorisation (couple très élevé incompatible avec une boite de vitesse classique,
poids du moteur, besoin en refroidissement, cout...). Mais Audi s'y est attaqué et a réussi son incroyable pari :
gagner au Mans dès sa première participation. On ne peut qu'applaudir, malgré une fiabilité en
légère baisse. Reste le problème du (manque de) bruit du moteur...

Indeed the R10 is not simply an evolution of the R8, holder of the records of the last 7 years. This racing car is motorized by
a V12 Turbodiesel engine. This technology has already run in Le Mans in the past but has never convinced. The last attempt,
a Lola Caterpillar in 2004, fast showed the difficulties of such a motorization (very high torque not compatible with classic gearbox,
weight of the engine, the need in cooling, cost). But Audi did it and made a success of its incredible bet: win in Le Mans from its
first participation. We can only applause, despite of a reliability in light decline. But the problem of the lack of noise of the engine
remains...
