Chez Toyota, on se demandera longtemps si un chat noir n'est pas venu dans le stands au 24 heures du Mans 2014
Dominatrices en championnat du monde et aux essais, les TS040H ont déjà démontré qu'elles étaient les plus rapides et les plus homogènes sur les relais en course.
Comme la fiabilité est là, Toyota est le grandissime favori de ces 24 heures.
Même si les toutes jeunes Porsche viennent jouer les trouble fête, les TS040H prennent peu à peu la course à leur compte, comme prévu. Mais la suite fut imprévisible...
Le premier orage fut impitoyable et la n°8 fut mêlée au "carton" dans les hunaudières. Nicolas Lapierre alors au volant ramènera la voiture au stand où 23 minutes seront nécessaires
pour réparer les dégats. Bien entendu, sauf catastrophe en tête, plus question de viser la victoire. Heureusement la n°7 s'imposa alors avec autorité, augmentant alors graduellement son avance sur le reste de la meute.
Intouchables, Nakajima, Sarrazin et Wurtz ne s étaient ménagés malgré tout qu'à peine 100 secondes d'avance quand à 4H55 le stand détecte, via la télémétrie, une anomalie dans un faisceau de cables. Le pilote
est immédiatement averti mais il n'aura pas le temps de retourner au stands, le défaut provoquant un incendie fatal a la n°7 qui s'arrêtera définitivement à Arnage à 4H59.
Ne restait alors plus qu'à suivre la remontée de la n°8 qui réussit, au terme d'une course folle, à accrocher la médaille de bronze.
Et si Toyota avait aligné une troisième voiture ?

The only thing to do was then to follow the comming back of the car n°8, which succeed, after a frantic race, to take the bronze medal.
I just wonder what could have happened if Toyota had entered a third car...
